Night in the Big Easy: 1941
Canal Street, New Orleans, in 1941, and all of the revelers are off the street. Some to the Jung Hotel, perhaps, now closed (owned by a successor hotel chain) since Katrina. Photo taken by the father of one of my best friends. View full size.
Jung Hotel
I stayed in that hotel in 2003. It's 1500 Canal St and was the Radisson when I stayed there. Last time I was by there was this past winter, and it was closed up....it closed after Katrina. This end of Canal St was coming back prior to the hurricane, but it's once again fallen back into seediness.
